Kenny Covert is working tirelessly to bring transparency and accountability to the local government and school district, and to make the Chester community a better place, writes the staff of Main Line Today.

The magazine is recognizing “10 Everyday Heroes Making an Indelible Impact on Our Region”. Covert made the cut.

“I’m involved in a lot of stuff,” he says. “My hands are stretched out.”

He’s taken on the upstart Chester Charter School run by CEO Vahan Gureghian. He says the school’s thrown some money around, “but our scores are exactly the same, and the eduation is now better,” Covert says.

Covert’s also the guy who’s formed a relationship with the Delaware County District Attorney’s office to facilitate the Chester Partnership for Safe Neighborhoods, led by Jean-Pierre Brice. The program’s goal is to curb gun violence and repeat jail time for Chester offenders.

Finally, he’s working to get community activist and blogger Stefan Roots elected to the city council.

Covert grew up without a father but had a quality support system of family and friends. Now he wants to make the community better for other children and for women.
