Delaware County’s New Daily COVID-19 Cases Climb Above 150 for Friday, 3 Deaths Reported

Three COVID019 related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Friday, March 5, from the Chester County Health Department.

Deaths were reported from:

1 from Upper Darby

1 from Aston

1 from Marple

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,293 fatalities.

Of those, 802 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 161 new COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Friday, March 5. Total cases are now38,549.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,095, or 9.5 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,787 cases reported, or 6.97 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 833 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 207,635 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.4 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, March 5, are:

  • Under 10: 1,535 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.012 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,482 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,638 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,239 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,004 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,712 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,443 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,481 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 5, that there were 2,757 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 944,196.

There were 43 additional COVID-19 deaths reported Friday, March 5 for a new total of 24,262.
