Delaware County Stayed Below 100 New Cases, at 91, But 12 Deaths Were Reported

An updated report from the Chester County Health Department for Wednesday, March 3, showed 12 additional COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Deaths reported:

3 from Haverford

2 from Upper Darby

2 from Concord

1 from Chester

1 from Yeadon

1 from Newtown

1 from Collingdale

1 from Chester Township

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,288 fatalities.

Of those, 800 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 91 new COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Wednesday, March 3. Total cases are now38,290.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,090, or 9.48 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,744 cases reported, or 6.92 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 830 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 206,777 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 90.09 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, March 3, are:

  • Under 10: 1,525 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,978 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,434 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,603 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,205 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,962 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,684 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,419 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,477 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 3, that there 938,411 total cases of COVID-19 statewide.  

There were 69 additional COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday, March 3 for a new total of 24,169.
