State Rep. Carol Kazeem (D-159) is talking up Crozer Health’s closed facilities to other health systems to see if there is any interest in taking over operations, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.
Kazeem, who represents Chester City and surrounding communities, is asking Main Line, Temple Health, Penn Medicine, or du Pont Hospital for Children to pick up Crozer-Chester Medical Center emergency room support, as well as trauma, burn, ob/gyn, maternal care, pediatric care, and primary care.
Prospect Medical Holdings filed for bankruptcy in January, which means many of the Crozer sites will end up in liquidation and being bid out to new owners.
“Because Temple already offers burn, cancer, and trauma, it would be great for Temple to pick it up because they already offer it. However, Main Line, they also have the infrastructure to be able to facilitate those services, especially because of the labor and delivery and the ob/gyn that was existing in Crozer,” Rep. Kazeem said.
She has asked Jefferson Health and Einstein for mobile units so that school-aged children can receive vaccinations.
Rep. Kazeem’s also talking with Silvercare, who’s looking at opening an acute care hospital and step-down unit next to the former Community Hospital in Chester.
