Delaware County Sees Slight Uptick in New Cases for Tuesday, but No New Fatalities

No COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Tuesday, March 23.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,322 fatalities in the county.

Of those, 811 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 94 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Tuesday, March 23. Total cases are now 40,499.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,120, or 9.74 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,068 cases reported, or 7.31percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 876 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 214,708 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.35 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, March 23, are:

  • Under 10: 1,669 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.350 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,787 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,901 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,479 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,318 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,940 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,525 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,525 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 23, there were 3,520 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 991,950.

The state is reporting 39 additional COVID-19 deaths for Tuesday, March 23. Statewide death toll is now 24,828.
