Delaware County Had 89 New Cases of COVID-19 for Tuesday, With 3 More COVID-19 Deaths

Three additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported Tuesday, March 16 in Delaware County:

1 from Middletown

1 from Marple

1 from Glenolden

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,308 fatalities.

Of those, 805 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 89 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported for Tuesday, March 16. Total cases are now 39,745.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,115, or 9.69 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,954 cases reported, or 7.17 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 864 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 211,559 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.34 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, March 16, are:

  • Under 10: 1,600 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.240 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,656 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,795 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,400 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,188 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,851 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,494 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,517 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 16, that there were 3,119 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 970,717

The state is reporting 65 additional COVID-19 deaths for Tuesday, March 16. Statewide death toll is now 24,652.
