Vaccine Shortages Close Delaware County’s Vaccination Center in Yeadon This Week

By

Nearly as soon as it opened, a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Delaware County’s new Wellness Center in Yeadon has had to close for lack of vaccine, reports Bob Brooks for 6abc.com.

The county is only giving vaccinations at its Aston Center this week because there aren’t enough doses, said Delaware County Councilman Kevin Madden. It has received 1,000 doses from the state, enough to vaccinate half of those scheduled this week.

According to the county, 152,000 people in total have pre-registered to receive the vaccine.

Councilman Madden says they’ve been pleading with the state for a more streamlined operation with more vaccine deliveries.

“The public expects to go to the county and yet the county is only getting 1,000 or 2,000 doses,” Madden said.

Vincent Sculli of Springfield, who has pre-existing health conditions, knows people in the county who have died from COVID and said he needs a vaccine as soon as possible.

“I don’t want to be another statistic. I need accurate information and to get this done as soon as possible,” said Sculli.

But like many residents, he’s confused over the vaccine distribution, with the county running short but pharmacies advertising they are scheduling vaccine appointments.
