Vaccinations Reach 1,000s in Delaware County, but General Rollout Still Elusive

By

Delaware County has administered 4,435 vaccinations as of Jan. 4 while it continues to look at mass vaccination sites, reports Bob Brooks for 6abc.com.

A wellness center in Yeadon will join two sites in the middle of the county and a third on the western side, according to Delaware County Vice Chairman Dr. Monica Taylor.

The hope is the sites will provide doses to as many people as possible.

Dr. Taylor described it as a “fluid situation, and we’re going to learn as we go and make adjustments as it happens.”

The priority at the moment is to vaccinate health care workers, EMS workers, residents and staff at long-term care facilities and medical examiner and funeral staff.

Some residents say they have questions about the vaccine rollout.

“It’s kind of very vague as far as how many are available and when exactly it’s going to be more widespread,” said Patrice Dorfman of Drexel Hill.

Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said Monday that 135,044 Pennsylvanians have been vaccinated to date.

She estimates several months before the general population can get vaccinated, likely using an appointment system to avoid long lines.
