New COVID-19 Cases in Delaware County Jump to Nearly 200 Friday, 2 Deaths Reported

Two additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Friday, Feb. 26.

1 was from Radnor

1 was from Ridley

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,272 deaths for the county.

Of those, 799 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported Feb. 26:

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

There were 194 new COVID-19 cases reported Friday, Feb. 26, in Delaware County. Total cases now stand at 37,795.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,078, or 9.37 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,673 cases reported, or 6.84 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 818 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 204,668 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 89.82 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, Feb. 26, are:

  • Under 10: 1,488 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,900cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,364 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,542 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,145 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,887 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,630 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,390 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,446 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 26 that there were 926,336 COVID-19 cases statewide.

 There were 69 additional COVID-19 deaths reported for a new total of 23,937.
