New COVID-19 Cases Continue to Stay Low in Delaware County’s Zipcodes

The percentage of new COVID-19 cases continued to drop significantly in Delaware County’s Zipcodes for the week prior to Feb. 24.

Some Zipcodes and communities of Delaware County saw more new COVID-19 cases last week than others, write Sean Adams and Megan Lavey-Heaton for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

The majority of Zipcodes in Delaware County saw increases in COVID-19 cases between 1 and 2 percent.

The highest percentage increase took place in Zipcode 19319 (Cheyney), at 5%. It had 1 new case for a total of 20.

The second highest was Zip codes 19022 (Crum Lynne, Chester, and Eddystone), 19085 (Villanova), and 19373 (Thornton).  Those Zipcodes had a 4% increase in cases.

Zipcode 19022 saw 9 new cases for a total of 255.  Zipcode 19085 saw 12 new cases for a total of 304 and Zipcode 19373 saw 9 new cases for a total of 254. 

The third highest was in Zipcodes 19081 (Swarthmore), 19086 (Wallingford and Rose Valley), 19094 (Woodlyn), and 19342 (Glen Mills). Those Zipcodes saw a 3% increase in cases.

Zipcode 19081 had 12 new cases for a total of 440. Zipcode 19086 had 20 new cases for a total of 742.  Zipcode 19094 had 10 new cases for a total of 348 and Zipcode 19342 had 28 new cases for a total of 1,124.

The remaining Zip codes registered below 3%.

Coming in with the lowest increase, at 0%, were Zipcodes 19017 (Chester Heights) which had no new cases.  Total cases are 20.

Also registering a statistically zero percent increase was Zipcode 19029 (Lester, Essington) which had 1 new case for a total of 260.

These latest numbers are compiled by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
