Delaware County New COVID-19 Cases Continue to Trend Lower Friday. No New Deaths Reported

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported Friday in Delaware County, with the death toll remaining at 1,199, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

Of total deaths reported, 778 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities by municipality as reported Feb. 5:

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department reported only 96 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County for Friday, Feb. 5. Total positive cases is now 35,428.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,034, or 8.99 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,327 cases reported, or 6.42 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 782 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 196,271 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 84.88 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, Feb. 5, are:

  • Under 10: 1,336 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,538 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,000 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,197 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,818 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,536 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,406 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,254 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,340 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 5 that there were 861,674 cases of COVID-10 state-wide.

 There were 284 additional deaths for a new total of 22,239.
