11 COVID-19 Deaths Added in Delaware County’s Wednesday Update, Total Now 1,250

A Chester County Health Department update Feb. 17 listed 11 additional COVID-19 deaths in Delaware County.

The COVID-19 death toll in Delaware County stands at 1,250 as of Wednesday.

Two deaths were reported from Nether Providence, 1 death was reported from Marple, 1 from Upper Darby,  1 from Springfield, 1 from Ridley, 1 from Upper Chichester, 1 from Bethel, 1 from Aston, 1 from Brookhaven, and 1 from Edgmont.

Of total deaths reported, 792 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

The health department reported 120 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County as of Wednesday, Feb. 17. Total cases now stand at 36,828.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,064, or 9.25 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,514 cases reported, or 6.64 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 813 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 200,934 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 87.94 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, Feb. 17, are:

  • Under 10: 1,424 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,734 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,230 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,394 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,996 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,757 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,544 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,339 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,407cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Feb. 17 that there were 3,413 new COVID-19 cases statewide. Total cases are now at 902,650.

 There were 193 additional COVID-19 deaths reported for a new total of 23,319.
