Pandemic Doesn’t Derail Couple’s Plan to Open New Italian Restaurant in Downingtown Next Month
Traci and Michael Carneglia are opening a new Italian restaurant at St. Anthony’s Lodge in Downingtown called La Tavola Famiglia, which means “the family table” in Italian, writes Jen Samuel for the Daily Local News.
“We wanted a name that sounded welcoming and created a sense that we were inviting you into our home to share our treasured family recipes,” said Traci.
The restaurant is set to open in early February, but the exact date is still unknown due to the pandemic, a threat that might finally start to subside with the arrival of a vaccine.
“The timing of our launch, during a pandemic, emphasizes our commitment to contribute to the local economy, provide jobs, and offer additional dining experiences in our hometown,” said Michael.
The couple also started A Cut Above Deli, which offers to-go items and catering services, 25 years ago in Newtown Square.
Their new building in Downingtown includes a 180-seat banquet hall on the second floor. The first floor will feature a 60-plus-seat restaurant.
