In 2021, Delaware County Starts the New Year With 30,182 COVID-19 Cases

Delaware County started the new year Saturday, Jan. 2 with 30,182 reported cases of COVID-19, the total number since statistics were first recorded in March 2020, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

County and municipal COVID statistics were unavailable from the Chester County Health Department over the weekend.

On Thursday, Dec. 31, the Chester County Health Department reported 993 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

 Of those, 683 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan. 3, that there were now 661,871 reported cases of COVID-19 statewide.

There were 16,295 reported deaths.
