Delco History: Look Who Spoke at Neumann University’s 1978 Commencement

This photo was discovered in the Neumann University archives from the university’s 1978 Commencement ceremony.

A certain senator from Delaware delivered the graduation address. The caption is below.

Sr. Madonna Marie Cunningham, OSF, Neumann University president, joined Sr. Corda Marie Bergbauer, OSF, and Dr. Margaret Mary Kearney in welcoming Joseph Biden, a young U.S. Senator from Delaware, to campus in 1978.

Rain moved the commencement ceremony inside that year, and Biden delivered his address to the graduates in the library.

Joseph Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States on Jan. 20, 2021.
