Delaware County Adds 200 Positive Cases, for a COVID-19 Total Tuesday of 34,121

There were another 200 positive COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday by the Chester County Health Department for Delaware County, bringing the total number of cases to date to 34,121.

Seven more COVID-19 deaths were reported Tuesday, bringing the Delaware County death toll to 1,086.

Fatalities were reported from Middletown, Upper Darby, Darby Borough, Springfield, Newtown, Glenolden, and Aldan.

Of total deaths reported, 721were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,008, or 8.76 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 5,172 cases reported, or 6.23 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 749 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 191,938 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 81.87 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Tuesday, Jan.26 are:

  • Under 10: 1,270 cases
  • 10 to 19: 3,358cases
  • 20 to 29: 5,792 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,037 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 4,655 cases
  • 50 to 59: 5,331 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,230 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,166 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,279 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Jan.26 that there were 4,628 additional cases of COVID-19 reported, for a new total of 812,495.

 There were 562 additional deaths for a new total of 20,883.
