Dr. Lisa Cummins, model and restoration dentist, dies at age 57

A Springfield model who later pursued a career in restoration dentistry died Nov. 30, at age 57 of complications from cardiac arrest, writes Bonnie L. Cook for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Lisa Krstine Cummins was discovered at age 15 while shopping with her parents in New York by fashion and celebrity photographer Francesco Scavullo.

She appeared three times on the cover of Cosmopolitan and was featured in Scavullo’s 1982 book, “Women.”

“Her photos taken by Scavullo and other top fashion photographers are admired to this day,” her brother, J.P. Cummins, said in a tribute.

Dr. Cummins of Haverford, Lower Merion, had a second career as a restoration dentist.

Born in Killeen, Texas, she was raised in Springfield.

She graduated Gettysburg College and earned a degree in dental medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. She qualified as a prosthodontist at Temple University.

Dr. Cummins pecialized in dental implants, with a solo practice in Bala Cynwyd.

“Lisa always had interest in making others feel good about themselves, and was sought out to work on dental cases for many Miss World, Miss America, and Miss Universe pageant contestants,” her brother said.
