Delaware County’s Positive COVID-19 Case Count Now Over 21,000. Six Deaths Reported

There were 378 additional positive cases of COVID-19 reported for Delaware County, Friday, Dec. 4, with the Chester County Health Department reporting 21,281 positive cases in the county.

On Dec. 3, the health department reported 20,903 positive cases.

Six additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported Dec. 4 in the county from Upper Darby, Chester, Ridley, Upper Chichester, Ridley Park, and Glenolden.

Of the 873 deaths reported, 643 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 793, or 6.91 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 3,305 cases reported, or 3.98 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 490 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 160,531 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 66.52 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, Dec. 4 are:

  • Under 10: 621 cases
  • 10 to 19: 2,014 cases
  • 20 to 29: 3,847 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 3,143 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 2,916 cases
  • 50 to 59: 3,328 cases
  • 60 to 69: 2,488 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,345 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,577

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Dec. 4, that there were 11,763 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, with the total number of cases now at 398,600

There were 169 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, with total deaths for Thursday, Dec. 3 reported at 11,113.
