Delaware County Continues to See New Positive COVID Cases in the 300s

There were 362 new positive COVID-19 cases reported in Delaware County on Friday, Dec. 11.

Total positive cases reported Thursday by the Chester County Health Department was 23,084. Total positive cases for Friday was 23,446.

Seven COVID deaths were reported, with fatalities now at 895.  Deaths were reported in Middletown, Upper Darby, Darby Borough, Prospect Park, Upper Providence, Collingdale and Marcus Hook.

Of those, 649 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 43 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 835, or 7.29 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 3,669 cases reported, or 4.42 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 516 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 165,371 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 67.27 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Friday, Dec. 11 are:

  • Under 10: 722 cases
  • 10 to 19: 2,243 cases
  • 20 to 29: 4,203 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 3,463 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 3,203 cases
  • 50 to 59: 3,654 cases
  • 60 to 69: 2,807 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,488 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,661

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Dec. 11, that there were 12,745 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, with the total number of cases now at 470,034.

There were 473 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, with total deaths for Friday, Dec. 11, reported at 12,235.
