COVID-19 Update: 14 More Delaware County Residents Lose Their Lives, Death Toll Now at 60

Delaware County lost 14 more people to the COVID-19 virus, bringing the county’s death toll to 60, according to April 15 data from the Chester County Health Department.

The highest number of fatalities in the county come from Yeadon Borough, where 12 people have died.

Ten deaths from Middletown Township have been reported.

Nine people from Marple Township have lost their lives to COVID-19.

Five people from Darby Borough have died from complications of COVID-19.

Five deaths have also been reported among 731 cases under investigation to which no municipality has been identified.

Three people from Nether Providence have died.

Haverford, Lansdowne, Norwood, Springfield and Ridley are reporting two deaths each.

One fatality is reported each in Newtown, Sharon Hill, Collingdale, Ridley Park, Upper Darby and Clifton Heights.

The number of positive confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county increased by 84 to 1,935 as of Wednesday, April 15.

The virus is reported in 47 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rutledge and Lower Chichester.

Yeadon has the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 66 cases, affecting .58 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most reported cases, at 185, affecting .22 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The majority of cases (417) are ages 50 to 59. The next largest  (313) is age 40 to 49. The third largest (287) is 30 to 39. The fourth largest (281) is 60 to 69. The fifth largest (265) is 20 to 29. The sixth largest (176) is 80 and over. The seventh largest (149) is 70 to 79.

The county had 5,543 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, April 15, that there are 1,145 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 26,490.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.

The department also reported 63 new deaths among positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 647.
