A $15 million donation has been given to Villanova University’s law school to focus on “strengthening entrepreneurial expertise, innovative thinking and collaboration across the University,” writes Sam Wood for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The donation was given by the Scarpa Foundation through telecom pioneer John F. Scarpa.

It quadruples the Foundation’s investment in the law school. A previous $5 million contribution was made by Scarpa, founder of the American Cellular Network Corp.  and co-founder of Unitel Wireless Communications Systems.

“This transformational gift will encourage the next generation of Villanova entrepreneurs by expanding their opportunities in the Law School and across the entire University,” said  University President Rev. Peter M. Donohue.

The money will fund an endowed faculty position at Villanova’s Charles Widger School of Law dedicated to entrepreneurship.

“I believe in Villanova University and in its Law School and know that — together — we can inspire tomorrow’s leaders who will change the world for the better. If the Law School is ‘where law meets business,’ then the Scarpa Center is ‘where law meets innovation’,” Scarpa said.
