COVID-19 Total Cases in Delaware County Increase by 246, New Total 16,857

There are now a total of 16,857 COVID-19 cases reported in Delaware County as of Tuesday, Nov. 17.

That compares to 16,611 cases reported on Monday, Nov. 16, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Two additional COVID19-related deaths were reported Tuesday from Yeadon and Chester. That brings the county total of deaths to 833.

Of those, 631 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 669, or 5.83 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 2,605 cases reported, or 3.14 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 370 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 146,520 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 71.28 percent recovery rate.

  • 10 to 19: 1,515 cases
  • 20 to 29: 3,082 cases
  • 30 to 39: 2,417 cases
  • 40 to 49: 2,278 cases

  • 70 to 79: 1,114 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,412

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Nov. 17, that there were 5,900 new cases of COVID-19 across the state, bringing the statewide total to 275,513.
