Big Jump in New COVID-19 Cases in Delaware County, With 164 Reported Friday, and 3 More Deaths

Delaware County saw a major jump in new CPVID-19 cases Friday, with 164 new cases reported.

Total cases reported increased from 14,440 Thursday to 14,604 Friday, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Three more residents from Middletown lost their lives to complications of COVID-19, with the county’s death toll increasing to 823.

Of those total deaths, 628 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 605, or 5.27 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, with 2,230 cases reported, or 2.69 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 340 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 137, 504 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 77.25 percent recovery rate.

  • 10 to 19: 1,235 cases (up 22)

  • 50 to 59: 2,233 cases (up 33)
  • 60 to 69: 1,731 cases (up 20)
  • 70 to 79: 1,002 cases (up 6)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Nov. 6, that there were 3,384 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 223,950.

There were 38 new deaths reported statewide for
Friday, Nov. 6, with total deaths listed at 8,975.
