Penn State’s Athletics Director of Marketing PJ Mullen has his work cut out for him this football season, writes Frankie Marzano for onwardstate.com.

Mullen, from Media Borough, makes sure there’s a great show and lots of support for fans and players when there’s a LIttany Lions game at Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center.

But the pandemic has made college football virtual for fans this year. Mullen’s up to the challenge.

A fan cutout sale will let fans potentially see themselves on TV or social media. Some proceeds from that sale went to groups on campus.

Fan videos from a “Raise the Song” campaign will be played in the stadium for the players to see.

He’s working with the S-Zone crew so they’ll have a presence. Nittanyville banners will still hang in the south end zone.

For television, there will still be the Lion Roars, the Blue Band tracks in the background and crowd noise, including “We Are” chants, Seven Nation Army chants and crowd murmurs, to keep a sense of normalcy.

“So, if they listen close enough, I hope they hear some of the soundtracks of Happy Valley through their TVs,” he said.
