Delaware County is recruiting residents to join the Citizen Corps of Delaware County (CCDC) which assists during disasters, mass care and public health events.

The Citizen Corps of Delaware County is offering an orientation session Nov. 12, 6:30 to 9 p.m., to find out more about the volunteer group. Those who register will receive an invitation to join the video conference.

The Citizens Corps is a branch of Freedom Corps and offers medical professionals and non-medically qualified volunteers the chance to receive free training and be part of a team to support a broad range of emergency/disaster responses to help fellow citizens in the county.

Volunteers bring a diverse range of skills with them, but the willingness to volunteer is what really counts.

Citizen Corps volunteers are part of a larger system of response.

Volunteers attend important trainings on disaster mental health, emergency and disaster response, public health preparedness and more.

Delco volunteers are part of the county emergency operation plan and participate in exercises that test the county and regional emergency response.

To register or for more information, visit the Citizen Corps of Delaware County website here.
