Dozens of volunteers from the Delaware County Citizens Corps helped Bring Back Delco Saturday.

The volunteers distributed PPE, hand sanitizers, gloves, masks and more to local businesses to get them back on their feet, reports 6abc.com.

Up to 500 people stopped by the Broomall Fire Company to pick up the steeply discounted kits.

“This is the epitome of Delco right here.  All different partnerships working together for the common good of bringing back Delaware County the way it should be,” commented Delaware County Councilwoman Elaine Schaeffer.

Schaeffer said the county has been hit by the virus.  They were closed down first and they had the worst COVID-19 case numbers.

“Our small businesses have been hit by this crisis more than any other sector. Most of them are devastated.”

The Citizens Corps has hosted 151 pandemic-related events, helping with PPE distribution, food drives, testing and other mass care services.

The hard-to-come-by supplies are being provided to local businesses to meet the health safety conditions required by the state for a business to reopen under the state’s yellow phase.

Another thousand kits will be sold to Delaware County business owners in the coming weeks.
