Tina Fey Part of Delaware County Celebs Heading Up Star-Studded Literacy Council’s Online Telethon Oct. 21

The Delaware County Literacy Council promises some headline Delco personalities for its first-ever Literacy Is Essential Telethon, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

Tina Fey’s on board. So is Cheri Oteri, Jahlil Beats, Monica Horan, Fran Brill, Matthew Ryan, Dan Connor, Danie Ocean, and Vince Papale

The event takes place 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The hope is to raise funds for the free literacy services provided by the Council.

The high-visibility telethon includes celebrity performances and the 2020 Champions of Adult Literacy awards.

Awards are going to Student Champion Maria Torres, Community Champion Jonathan Abdur Rahim King, and Hometown Hero Champion, the Delaware County Citizen Corps.

Besides Fey and Oteri, both known for their comedy work; and former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Vince Papale, the telethon cast includes Fran Brill from Wallingford, a puppeteer who created Muppets Prairie Dawn and Zoe on Sesame Street.

Other Delco celebrities are recording artists Matthew Ryan and Danie Ocean, both from Chester; hip hop record producer and songwriter Jahill Beats, Monica Horan from “Everybody Loves Raymond”  and former American football linebacker Dan Connor, now a football coach at Widener University.
