New COVID-19 Caseload in Delaware County Stays Above 100, With 112 Cases Reported for Friday

New cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County remained above 100 for Friday, Oct. 23, with 112 cases reported, for a total of 12,976, according to the Chester County Health Department.

No additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported, with total deaths remaining at 808.

Of those, 619 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus.

Three new cases were reported in the borough for Friday.  It has 562 cases, affecting 4.9 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,971, affecting 2.37 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 317 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 126, 230 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 81.65 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Oct. 23 as compared to Oct. 22 are:

  • Under 10: 259cases (up 7)
  • 10 to 19: 1,068 cases (up 23)
  • 20 to 29: 2,407 cases (up 18)
  • 30 to 39: 1,768 cases (up 9)
  • 40 to 49: 1,698 cases (up 21)
  • 50 to 59: 1,980 cases (up 22)
  • 60 to 69: 1,551 cases (up 8)
  • 70 to 79: 923 cases (up 3)
  • 80 and over: 1,32` cases (up 1)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 23, that there were 2,219 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Thursday Oct. 22, bringing the statewide total to 190,579.

There were 33 new deaths reported statewide as of
Friday, Oct. 23 since these statistics were last reported Thursday, with total deaths listed at 8,624.
