Drexel Hill native Lisa Sullivan, a nurse in the maternity ward at Delaware County Memorial Hospital, has been recognized with the DAISY Award, which honors extraordinary nurses, writes Stephanie Stahl for CBS Philly.

Sullivan, who is well known for her dedication to her work, is following in the footsteps of her mother, also a nurse. After spending nights working with mothers and their newborns, she then goes home to care for her own four young children.

“I go home from here, and get some of them off to school, and then I have my 18-month-old I’m home with, and when husband gets home from work, I get to sleep for a little bit,” said Sullivan.

While grateful for the award that acknowledges her hard work, Sullivan made sure to praise the entire team.

“It’s very nice to hear good things, but I could say that about a lot of the nurses here,” she said. “I work with a great group of nurses.”

Fellow nurse Kathy Macagnone said that there is a lot of support and friendship at the community hospital, where everybody is very proud of Sullivan’s award.

“She’s a very strong nurse; she’s very caring, professional, and pleasure to work with,” she said.
