Delaware County Continues to Post High Number of New COVID-19 Cases, 102 for Tuesday; Total Now 12,734

The number of new COVID-19 cases for Delaware County continued to run high on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with 102 new cases reported.

That brings the total number of cases in the county to 12,734, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Again, no new deaths were reported, with the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the county remaining at 804.

Of those, 617 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus, though no new cases were reported in the borough for Tuesday.  It has 557cases, affecting 4.86 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,938, affecting 2.34 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Monday, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 313 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 123, 747 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 82.32 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Oct. 16 as compared to Oct. 15, are:

  • Under 10: 248cases (up 3)
  • 10 to 19: 1,028 cases (up 11)
  • 20 to 29: 2,362 cases (up 21)
  • 30 to 39: 1,740 cases (up 13)
  • 40 to 49: 1,654 cases (up 10)
  • 50 to 59: 1,942 cases (up 21)
  • 60 to 69: 1,527 cases (up 15)
  • 70 to 79: 914 cases (up 5)
  • 80 and over: 1,318 cases (up 3)

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 20, that there were 1,557 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Monday, bringing the statewide total to 184,872.

There were 33 new deaths reported statewide as of
Tuesday, Oct. 20 since these statistics were last reported Sunday, with total deaths listed at 8,533.
