A new mixed-use development is coming to Granite Run, bringing apartments, shops, restaurants, and other entertainment venues to the site of the old mall, writes Leslie Krowchenko for the Daily Times.

BET Investments acquired the property four years ago, and the redevelopment was approved two years later.

“We expect to be 92 percent leased by the end of this year, and filled and leased by Jan. 31,” said Michael Markman, president of Horsham’s BET Investments.

The 820,000-square-foot development will be open-air, with just under half of it devoted to retail. Its landscaped courtyard will be surrounded by one- and two-story buildings that will connect with existing anchors Boscov’s and Sears.

In addition to retail stores and fast casual restaurants, the development will also feature a 36,000-square-foot gym and the entertainment center Frank Theatres Cinebowl & Grille.

“It is an entertainment concept that has a regional draw,” said Markman. “It will have dine-in movies and couches surrounding big-screen TVs.”

One of the first tenants of the development, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Primary Care, is already seeing its first young clients ahead of its formal opening on Oct. 25.
