77 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Wednesday in Delaware County, and 2 Deaths

There were 77 new cases of COVID-19 reported Wednesday, Oct. 7 for Delaware County since cases were last reported Tuesday. Total number of cases is now 11,880, according to the Chester County Health Department.

Two residents, one from Middletown and one from Marple, lost their lives to COVID-19 in Delaware County.  The total stands at 799.

Of those, 615 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 546 cases, affecting 4.76 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,820, affecting 2.19 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Tuesday, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 301 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 112, 867 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 84.26 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Oct. 6 compared to Oct. 5, are:

  • Under 10: 210 cases (up 1)
  • 10 to 19: 949 cases (up 7)
  • 20 to 29: 2,165 cases (up 28)
  • 30 to 39: 1,619 cases (up 6)
  • 40 to 49: 1,531 cases (up 7)
  • 50 to 59: 1,795 cases (up 11)
  • 60 to 69: 1,436 cases (up 7)
  • 70 to 79: 869 cases (up 4)
  • 80 and over: 1,307 cases (up 6)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 7, that there were 1,309 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Tuesday, bringing the statewide total to 166,552.

There were 28 new deaths reported statewide as of
Tuesday, Oct. 6 since these statistics were last reported Tuesday, with total deaths listed at 8,272.
