59 New COVID-19 Cases Thursday Puts Delaware County Back on Upward Trend

Delaware County’s new COVID-19 cases rose slightly over 50 again Thursday, continuing a trend from the past week that had been halted Wednesday when only 49 cases were reported.

There were 59 new cases for Thursday, Oct. 15, for a total of 12,365, according to the Chester County Health Department.

For the third straight day, no additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported, with total deaths remaining at 800.

Of those, 616 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 552 cases, affecting 4.8 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,878, affecting 2.26 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The following are the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County as of Wednesday, Oct. 14, listed by municipality in descending order of caseload.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Tuesday, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 305 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 120, 109 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 83.25 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Oct. 15 compared to Oct. 14, are:

  • Under 10: 229 cases (up 1)
  • 10 to 19: 986 cases (up 2)
  • 20 to 29: 2,293 cases (up 14)
  • 30 to 39: 1,684 cases (up 7)
  • 40 to 49: 1,605 cases (up 5)
  • 50 to 59: 1,880 cases (up 16)
  • 60 to 69: 1,480 cases (up 6)
  • 70 to 79: 896 cases (up 9)
  • 80 and over: 1,311 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 15, that there were 1,598 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to177,520.

There were 221 new deaths reported statewide as of
Thursday, Oct. 15 since these statistics were last reported Wednesday, with total deaths listed at 8,432.
