Chef Marc Vetri is now a minority owner of Primal Supply Meats, Heather Marold Thomason’s rapidly-growing butchery that began in Delaware County, writes Michael Klein for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Vetri was acting as an informal advisor for the butchery. Thomason said that Vetri and his business partner, Jeff Benjamin, had been helping guide the expansion from the Delaware County plant to the butcher shop in Philadelphia.

Vetri, who personally invested in the butchery, and Thomason are currently working on a new project, which Thomason calls “a home base.” It will include meat processing, a commissary kitchen, and an event space for pop-ups and classes.

Thomason is a former graphics designer who started studying butchery only seven years ago. She started her own butchery in Delaware County two years ago.

“I saw how motivated she is,” said Vetri.

So far, the new location has not been disclosed, but they say it will be somewhere in the city and open sometime next year.

Vetri’s investment will also provide Thomason with financial stability.

“I now feel more secure in growing business to the next level,” said Thomason.
