Glen Mills Construction Company Rescues Blind Dog Trapped in Pipe
A Glen Mills construction company saved a blind dog after it was trapped in a pipe in Concord Township, reports Alexandria Hoff for philadelphia.cbslocal.com.
Trixie is a Wheaton terrier and at nearly 15, she’s also hard of hearing.
“I started doing my normal thing looking for her and I couldn’t find her,” says Trixie’s owner, Kathie Iannuzzi.
She could hear Trixie’s cries Monday morning. Turns out she had slipped through a fence at her Concord home and was stuck 50 feet inside a 15-inch wide drain pipe.
Concord Township notified MOR Construction, who showed up with CCT equipment that had a robotic camera. It’s normally used for pipeline inspection.
They tried to nudge Trixie with the camera, then decided to excavate.
MOR brought in more equipment and cut a hole in the cement pipe, monitoring Trixie with the camera.
“When I was pulling her back out of the pipe she was kind of biting at the bar but as soon as I laid hands on her and pulled her out she just kind of melted against me,” said camera operator Bob Marker.
The team effort included hosing Trixie off after her rescue.
