Delaware County Stakes Its Claim at the Shore
It’s true. No matter where you go in the world, Delco natives always take a little bit of Delaware County with them.
One family’s recent trip to the beach included a Delco flag unfurled next to their blanket.
In 2019, 48 million people visited the New Jersey shoreline. They probably all didn’t come from Delaware County, but then again, we do love our beach time.
It’s been a mix of ups and downs so far at the Jersey Shore during this year’s pandemic, according to Amy Rosenberg at the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Beaches are crowded, but not necessarily causing COVID-19 issues, which officials are blaming more on indoor parties and shared houses.
Restaurants have shifted to outdoor dining, which can be a problem in bad weather or excessive heat.
Everybody seems to be short on staff.
But the real estate market is hot. Buyers are looking for second homes and they’re snatching up shore property while interest rates are low.
In Atlantic City, which never shut its beach or Boardwalk, the money is flowing.
Allowing open drinking on the Boardwalk, and on Tennessee, New York, and St. James beach blocks, has been a boon.
