A Maryland health care company specializing in treating obesity opened a new facility in Boothwyn Monday as it expands into the Philadelphia market, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

CoreLife plans to grow throughout Pennsylvania in the coming year.

“We anticipate 12 locations opening in the Philly market by the end of 2021, with the initial four or five locations opening in 2020,” said Sean Kostkowski, CoreLife’s president.

He estimates they will hire 75 to 100 people to staff the centers.

The CoreLife Centers feature a wellness and weight management program that includes health professionals in medicine, nutrition, exercise and behavior all in one place.

Its centers are staffed by licensed medical providers, registered dietitians and exercise physiologists.

Each center has private fitness studios and diagnostic testing equipment.

Founded in 2012, CoreLife  operates 20 centers in Maryland, Alabama, North Carolina and Delaware.

It has  joint ventures with four health systems: Adventist Healthcare, Peninsula Regional Health System, Calvert Health System, and Novant Health.

Dr. William Ware, with more than three decades of internal medicine experience, will serve as CoreLife’s medical director in Pennsylvania.

The company is talking with several Philadelphia area health systems, but has no local partnerships yet.
