On Wednesday, the Radnor Property Group broke ground on Vue32, the $56 million mixed-use project on Drexel University land at 3201 Race St. in University City, writes Alan Heavens for Philly.com.

This project is the latest foray into University City by the Wayne-based real estate development firm and its founder David Yeager. It will include a residential tower, for-sale townhouses, a preschool, as well as a plaza area for community use. The Radnor Property Group is developing the project at no cost to the university as it is based on a ground-lease agreement with Drexel.

According to Yeager, the vision of Vue32 is to provide homes to a mix of tenants, including graduate students, faculty staff and non-Drexel professionals employed in the area.

The 16 floor tower will have 164 rental apartments ranging from junior one-bedroom to three bedroom units and should be completed between June and August next year. The first two floors will total 13,837 square feet and will be home to Chesterbrook Academy with space for up to 180 children.

Amenities include a fitness center, underground parking for 32 cars, as well as a rooftop deck with a gas fire pit and grills. The for-sale townhouses will be 12 two-bedroom condominiums in three building clusters. Construction will start after the completion of the tower, and is expected to finish in 2018.
