Southern Chester County is home to two of the 10 best public golf courses in Pennsylvania, writes Jason Lusk for Golfweek magazine.

The courses featured in Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play in each state were ranked based on 10 criteria, some of which include design, challenge, and quality of greens.

All of the courses that were considered for the list allow some public access, whether it’s by daily green fees, through a resort, or while staying at an affiliated hotel.

In Pennsylvania, Inniscrone Golf Club in Avondale ranked seventh. Designed by the renowned Gil Hanse, a Malvern resident, the course offers a formidable but enjoyable challenge, as well as greens with plenty of variation. It was originally designed as an upscale private course, but has since been opened to the public.

Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford placed ninth. Designed by Brian Ault in a “heathland” style, Wyncote is one of the most challenging courses in the area. This upscale course is affordable and offers greens with little undulation and lightning-fast putting surfaces.
