90 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Delaware County, 6 Deaths

There were 90 additional cases of COVID-19 reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, Aug. 12, by the Chester County Health Department, bringing the total number of cases to 9,482.

Six additional COVID-19 deaths were reported, with the total in the county now at 752.

Of those, 591 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have now been reported in 39 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 487 cases, affecting 4.25 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,513, affecting 1.82 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 302 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 70,525  people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 75.31 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups as of Aug. 12 are:

  • Under 10: 6 cases
  • 10 to 19: 517 cases (up 20)
  • 20 to 29: 1,500 cases
  • 30 to 39: 1,300 cases
  • 40 to 49: 1,300 cases (up 100)
  • 50 to 59: 1,500 cases
  • 60 to 69: 1,200 cases
  • 70 to 79: 768 cases (up 5)
  • 80 and over: 1,200 cases

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Aug. 12, that there were 849 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since Tuesday, Aug. 11, bringing the statewide total to 121,130.

There were 33 additional COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the state total to 7,385.
