CVS has unveiled a new healthcare model, the HealthHUB, that provide personalized, community-based health services, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.

They are part of 13 created in the Philly area and South Jersey.

“The purpose of this model is to put patients at the center of their care,” said Anthony Riccardo, CVS regional director.

That means a broader range of health care services to manage chronic conditions, and a focus on general health and wellness.

Customers can sort through hundreds of health and fitness products, receive education and counseling for chronic conditions, receive diabetic exams, and be screened and monitored for high blood pressure and cholesterol.

There are sleep assessments, phlebotomy services, and wellness rooms for group events like nutritional and lifestyle coaching.

A learning table lets customers explore health and wellness apps and products.

“Customers tell us they want local access to convenient, personalized and integrated health care,” Riccardo said. “Our HealthHUB locations do just that — helping to elevate the store into a community-based health care destination.”

CVS hopes to have 1,500 HealthHUBs operating nationwide by the end of 2021. There are 53 now in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Texas.
