45 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Delaware County for Aug. 27, 1 Death Reported

There were 45 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Delaware County for Thursday, Aug. 27. Total number of cases is now at 10,233.

There was one COVID-19-related death reported, with total fatalities now at 772.

Of those, 604 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have now been reported in 39 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 511 cases, affecting 4.45 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,627, affecting 1.96 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The following are the number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, listed by municipality in descending order of caseload.

The list includes which communities saw an increase in cases based on previously unassigned cases and new cases since Tuesday, Aug. 25, the last date these statistics were updated.

There are 303 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 84,007 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 79.1 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups as of Aug. 27 are:

  • Under 10: 163 cases (up 2)
  • 10 to 19: 641 cases (up 11)
  • 20 to 29: 1,703 cases (up 10)
  • 30 to 39: 1,415 cases (up 5)
  • 40 to 49: 1,353 cases (up 6)
  • 50 to 59: 1,593 cases (up 5)
  • 60 to 69: 1,299 cases (up 4)
  • 70 to 79: 798 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,267 cases (up 2)

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Aug. 27, that there were 620 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since Tuesday, Aug. 25, bringing the statewide total to 131,156.

There were 11 new COVID-19 related deaths reported, with the total now at 7,635.
