In Pennsylvania, Young Adults Now Outpace 50 and Older in New COVID-19 Cases

COVID-19 statistics were unavailable from the Chester County Health Department for Sunday, July 10.

The following statistics were provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as of noon, July 12.

They do not include a municipal breakdown of COVID-19 cases and may be slightly different than the numbers reported out of local health departments.

There are 7,548 total cases of COVID-19 reported for Delaware County.

There were 725 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in the state, for a total of 95,414.

Of those new cases, 37 percent were ages 25 to 49. Nearly 24 percent are 50 to 64 and 26 percent are 65 or older.

The state noted the increase in cases in the younger age groups. It is reporting that 19 to 24 year olds made up 5 percent of cases in April. They now make up over 16 percent of cases so far in July, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

There have been 709 COVID-19 related deaths in Delaware County as of July 10, according to the Chester County Health Department.
