Excess Summer Garden Harvest Can Now Be Donated to Local Food Pantries

By

Attention home gardeners!

Do you have more lettuce than you know what to do with?

Did you plant a few too many zucchini plants this year?

If you are finding yourself with more produce than you and your family can consume,  consider donating your excess to local food pantries through the Delco Strong Harvest Collections.

Excess harvests will be collected every Monday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Rose Tree Park Community Gardens via contact-less drop-off.

Penn State Extension staff will deliver the harvest each week to a pantry in need.

The donations will be weighed and added to the PHS Harvest 2020 campaign.

This weekly collection is a joint effort between Delaware County Parks & Recreation, Penn State Extension Delaware County Master Gardeners, Food Families & Health Educators, and Delaware County Interfaith Food Assistance Network .

For more information, contact Jenn Onopa ,FFH Educator, or Holly Thorpe, Master Gardener Coordinator, at 610-690-7662.
