New Cases of COVID-19 Down May 28 for Delaware County, at 48, 1 New Fatality

The number of new cases of COVID-19 was lower for Thursday, May 28 in Delaware County.

There were 48 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one death reported, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

County totals now number 537 COVID-19 deaths and 6,389 cases reported.

Of the total deaths reported, 393 were nursing home or personal care facility fatalities. That number has remained unchanged for several days.

The virus is now reported in all 49 municipalities.

There are 246 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been assigned.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 383 cases, affecting 3.34 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has topped 1,000 cases, at 1,006, affecting 1.21 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, May 28, that there are 625 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 70,042.

There are 5,373 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 108 new deaths.

The southeast region of the state, which includes Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of positive confirmed cases in the state, at 45,212.  The next highest number of cases in the state is in the northeast, reporting 12,911 cases.
