Steve Povey of Norwood and his wife-to-be,  Christine Pascua, had been hoping for a May 29, 2020 wedding ever since Steve proposed to her during their 2016 vacation in Jamaica, writes Kellie Patrick Gates for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The couple, now in Prospect Park, had planned a wedding with 100 guests at Terrain at Styers in Glen Mils.

Then in March, COVID-19 arrived.

Steve and Christine’s instinct was to postpone.  Then they looked at other options—like having fewer guests seated six feet apart, with masks for everyone.

But overriding health concerns led to them pushing the wedding off to Memorial Day 2021, hoping time will be on their side.

The spread of the virus in the weeks since their decision makes them feel they made the right call.

“Even if we flatten the curve by then (May 29) and people are able to travel, it’s just not the right time for a wedding,” Steve said.

“God forbid, if even one person were sick ,” Christine said.

Next month, on what would have been their wedding day, Steve and Christine will share a little sadness — and a lot of cake.
