First Upper Darby COVID-19-Related Death Reported, Delaware County Now Has 41 Fatalities, 1750 Cases

Upper Darby has had its first person die from COVID-19, raising the Delaware County death toll to 41.

The number of positive confirmed cases of coronavirus increased by 117 to 1,750 as of Monday, April 13, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Yeadon and Marple have lost seven people each to COVID-19.

Middletown has had five COVID-19 deaths.

Darby Borough has three COVID-19 deaths.

Two deaths have been reported in reported in Collingdale. Lansdowne, Ridley, and Norwood.

Nether Providence, Newtown, Ridley Park, Sharon Hill and Springfield and Upper Darby have one fatality each.

Five deaths have also been reported among 734 cases under investigation to which no municipality has been identified.

The virus is reported in 47 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rutledge and Lower Chichester.

Upper Darby has 157 reported cases, the highest number in the county, affecting .17 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The majority of cases (381) are ages 50 to 59. The next largest group (285) is age 40 to 49. The third largest (265) is 30 to 39. The fourth largest (255) is 60 to 69. The fifth largest (250) is 20 to 29. The sixth largest (138) is 80 and over. The seventh largest (134) is 70 to 79.

The county had 5,288 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, April 13, that there are 1,366 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 24,199.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania now have cases of COVID-19.

The department also reported 17 new deaths among positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 524.
