COVID-19 Claims Resident in Haverford, Clifton Heights; 5 Countywide COVID-19 Deaths Reported in One Day

Five more people from Delaware County have died from COVID-19, raising the number of deaths to 46.

The number of positive confirmed cases of coronavirus increased by 101 to 1,851 as of Tuesday, April 14, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

It is now being reported that one Haverford resident and one Clifton Heights resident has died from COVID-19.

Yeadon has lost eight people to the coronavirus. Marple has had seven deaths.

Middletown has had six COVID-19 deaths.

Darby Borough has had three COVID-19 deaths.

Two deaths each have been reported in Nether Providence, Collingdale. Lansdowne, Ridley, and Norwood.

One death each has been reported in Upper Darby, Newtown, Ridley Park, Sharon Hill and Springfield.

Five deaths have also been reported among 751 cases under investigation to which no municipality has been identified.

The virus is reported in 47 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rutledge and Lower Chichester.

Yeadon has the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 56 cases, affecting .49 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has 167 reported cases, the highest number in the county, affecting .2 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The majority of cases (408) are ages 50 to 59. The next largest group (298) is age 40 to 49. The third largest (277) is 30 to 39. The fourth largest (271) is 60 to 69. The fifth largest (259) is 20 to 29. The sixth largest (154) is 80 and over. The seventh largest (140) is 70 to 79.

The county had 5,369 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, April 14, that there are 1,146 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 25,345.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.

The department also reported 60 new deaths among positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 584.
