Coronavirus Update: Delaware County Loses 10 More Residents to COVID-19, Total Number of Dead Now 131

Ten more people have lost their lives in Delaware County from complications of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 131, as of Friday, April 24, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Of those, 82 occurred in a nursing home or personal care facility in the county.

There is a discrepancy in the data between the number of total Delaware County COVOD-19 deaths listed on the Chester County Health Department site (131) and the number of fatalities broken down by municipalities (128).

The following is a breakdown of COVID-19 fatalities listed by the Chester County Health Department in descending order of community:

The county’s total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases has increased by 143 and is now at 3,106.

The virus is reported in 48 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rutledge.

There are 1,061 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has been listed.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 157 cases, affecting 1.37 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most reported cases, at 320, affecting .39 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of midnight, April 24, that there are 1,599 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 38,652..

The statewide total of COVID-19 deaths is currently listed as 1,492.

Of those, 903 were in nursing homes and personal care facilities.

The southeast region of the state, which is comprised of Delaware, Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks and Chester Counties, has the highest number of COVID-19 positive confirmed cases in the state, at 24,289.  The northeast has the second highest number of cases, at 8,523.
