Coronavirus Update: 1,633 COVID-19 Cases Now Reported in Delaware County, 40 Deaths

The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Delaware County has now risen to 40, and the number of positive confirmed cases of coronavirus stands at 1,633 as of Sunday, April 12, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

Yeadon and Marple have lost seven people each to COVID-19.

Middletown has had five COVID-19 deaths.

Darby Borough has three COVID-19 deaths.

Two deaths have been reported in reported in Collingdale. Lansdowne, Ridley, and Norwood.

Nether Providence, Newtown, Ridley Park, Sharon Hill and Springfield have one fatality each.

Five deaths have also been reported among 656 cases under investigation to which no municipality has been identified.

The virus is reported in 47 of the 49 municipalities, with no cases reported in Rutledge and Lower Chichester.

Upper Darby has 148 reported cases, the highest number in the county, affecting .17 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

The county had 5,079 people test negative for the virus.

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, April 12, that there are 1,178 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 22,833.

All 67 counties in Pennsylvania now have cases of COVID-19.

The department also reported 13 new deaths among positive cases, bringing the statewide total to 507.
